Best Way To Make Money In Pokemon Let's Go

Pokémon: Let's Go, Pikachu! and Let's Go, Eevee! have been out for roughly two months now and with Gamefreak confirming that a main series Pokémon game is slated for a late 2019 release, most if not all are finishing up the franchise's latest foray in the Kanto region. Throughout the 20 plus hour main story and dozens of hours of post-game content, Let's Go, Pikachu! and Eevee!have made one thing clear. You need money and lots of it.

Whether it is shiny hunting for your favorite pocket monster or catch chaining mons for competitive use or the master trainers, (posts explaining both in greater detail to come), one will exhaust through their resources during their journey.  Thankfully, Let's Go, Pikachu! and Eevee!offer a multitude of ways to ensure that your Poké dollars never reach zero.

*Note: Some of these moneymaking techniques can only be done once becoming Pokémon League Champion so spoiler alert ahead.

Pre Pokémon League Champion:

Pay Day Everything: For the first time since Generation I, the move Pay Day is a Technical Machine (TM). It's now an unlimited use item (since Generation V) that teaches your Pokémon a move. Pay Day scatters coins equal to five times the user's level EACH time the move is used in battle. Both the starter Eevee and Pikachu can learn Pay Day, but just be aware that if you are playingLet's Go, Eevee!, Pay Day will pack an extra punch due to Pay Day being a normal type move and Eevee being a normal type.

This means that Eevee receives a 1.5 times same type attack bonus (STAB) increasing Pay Day's base power from 40 to 60. The TM is obtained rather early on during your adventure on Route 4, shortly after defeating the first gym leader and just prior to the entrance of Mt. Moon.

Pro tip: Pokémon: Let's Go, Pikachu! and Let's Go, Eevee!introduced cooperative play for the first time in a Pokémon game by way of the support trainer. A shake of the unused joy-con and a buddy joins, effectively turning every battle into a two versus one in your favor! If both Pokémon have Pay Day, they can spam the move to add some additional prize money after each battle. Don't have any friends? No worries, just shake that second joy-con, put them in the joy-con controller grip that comes bundled with every Nintendo Switch, and it will begin raining coins.

Daily E vents/ Regenerating Items: All Pokémon games have valuable items, (not to be confused with key items) that serve little purpose other than to be sold, typically for a high price and Let's Go, Pikachu! and Let's Go, Eevee!are no exception. Once each day there are two non-playable characters (NPCs), a lady in the northwest corner of Pewter City and a Diglett in the Warden's house in Fuschia City, that will give you a big pearl and a nugget respectively. Big Pearls sell for 4,000 Poké dollars and nuggets 5,000.

In addition to these daily events, all cave/dungeon areas in the game have hidden valuable items that respawn daily. You will know when you are close to a hidden item when your partner Pokémon's tail begins to wag uncontrollably. A full list of items in all the cave/dungeon areas in Let's Go, Pikachu! and Let's Go, Eevee!can be found on websites like Bulbapedia and Serebii.

Post Pokémon League Champion:

Rebattle Gym Leaders, E4, and Green: Now that you have become Pokémon League Champ, new money-making ways have become available for you to fully manipulate. Once a day, you can re-battle all eight gym leaders. They all give the same amount of prize money for defeating them, 13,680 Poké dollars, with the exception of Blue, who gives you 19,040 Poké dollars for defeating him. If you use the previously mentioned Pay Day strategy, roughly an additional 7,000 Poké dollars per gym leader can be collected. Just a heads up for Erika and Sabrina's gym, due to the gym's layout you may get lost trying to reach the gym leaders unless you have the layout memorized.

The once manga exclusive character Green has finally made her way into a Pokémon game with Let's Go Pikachu! and Let's Go Eevee!. Upon returning to Cerulean Cave, (more on that in a bit) after you encountered and hopefully, caught Mewtwo, Green will be where Mewtwo once stood and challenge you to a battle. After defeating her, she will be in Cerulean City where she can be re-battled once a day as well. Green's battle gives 19,040 Poké dollars, and with the Pay Day strat, you will earn roughly an additional 6,000 Poké dollars. About a minute long cutscene plays after besting her each time, so be prepared to mash the "A" button for a few.

Probably the oldest money-making strategy in Pokémon's existence is the constant re-battling of the Elite Four and that strategy is still solid as ever in Let's Go. The Elite Four members give an average of 12,700 Poké dollars, with your rival giving 18, 760 Poké dollars. The all too familiar Pay Day strat will net you an additional 4,500 Poké dollars per battle.

*Please note that the gym leaders, Elite Four, and rival will be at much higher levels than their initial battles.

Cerulean Cave: A lot of your post-game time will be spent here. While known for being home to Mewtwo and some stronger Pokémon in older entries, Cerulean Cave is arguably the most effective way to make money in Let's Go. There are these glowing white patches on the floor of the cave that hold some precious items. Of these items, the ones you will be "farming" for are the gold berries and the fossils.

Each of the three different types of berries (Razz, Nanab, and Pinap) come in regular, silver, and gold varieties that aid in catching wild Pokémon throughout your journey. The regular and silver sell for fairly cheap, but the gold berries sell for 2,500 Poké dollars each. As for the fossils, once you have resurrected one of each, you can sell the Helix or Dome fossils for 3,500 or the Old Amber for 5,000.

What sets Cerulean Cave apart from any other dungeon/cave in the game, is that these items respawn after a few MINUTES, not once a day. Meaning you can have a stack of gold berries and fossils in a few hours time ready to sell to turn a sweet profit.

There are other mini ways to make a few Poké dollars inPokémon: Let's Go, Pikachu! and Let's Go, Eevee!, but the ways listed above will ensure that you are never close to seeing zero Poké dollars in your bag, regardless of where you are on your adventure.
